Book a consult with an
occupational therapist

Our consults are one off appointments, completed in person or via tele-health by a senior Occupational Therapist. They are designed to provide support to families who are experiencing long wait times for ongoing therapy and would like guidance on how to support their child during this waiting period.

Find out more about our consultation process below.

  • What is occupational therapy?
Occupational therapy enables people to participate in the activities they find meaningful. These activities include taking care of oneself (and others), working, volunteering, and participating in hobbies, interests and social events (OT Aus). For children, this can include participating in play, engaging with peers, completing self-care tasks and more!
  • Do I need a referral to access occupational therapy?
No. There are many ways to access services, including a self-referral (meaning you would like your child access services). Your GP or pediatrician may also refer you to access occupational therapy however this is not required.
  • How do I get started with services?
You can either complete the online form with your details or give us a call. We will be able to discuss possible options regarding therapy along with any waitlists that may apply.
  • Where do sessions occur?
We complete all sessions in the child's natural environment - for example, at home, school, kinder, or childcare. Each sessions offers the opportunity to collaborate on how your child is going at home and in therapy sessions through parent/educator discussions.
  • Can I use my NDIS or Medicare funding?
Yes. Play to Live Occupational Therapy accepts self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. Medicare rebates are also available through a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) provided by your GP. If you do not have access to these funding or rebate scheme services services can be paid for privately.
  • I think I just need an assessment, is this something I can access?
Yes. We offer a variety of once off assessment which include the assessment and written report. Assessment include: Occupational Therapy Assessment - often used to determine if ongoing support is needed Sensory Profile Assessment Vineland-3 Assessment ABAS Assessment Functional Capacity Assessments School/Kinder Observation Assessment If you require an assessment only, please ensure to request this via phone or the intake form.
  • Will there be a long wait for services?
Wait list time frames can be unpredictable. Unfortunately the most requested time for sessions is after school and therefore the wait for these sessions can be significantly longer. To access services sooner, discuss the option of completing sessions during the day; at home or school.
  • Do you offer any other services?
No, Play To Live Occupational Therapy currently offers occupational therapy services only.
  • What regions do you service?
We current offer ongoing sessions to people who live within the Wyndham and Melton area only. This includes: Werribee, Hoppers Crossing, Wyndham Vale, Manor Lakes, Point Cook, Tarneit, Truganina, Altona, Altona North, Altona Meadows, Melton, Melton South, Melton West, and Brookfield. We are unable to provide ongoing therapy sessions outside of these suburbs at this time.
